Child and Adult Care Food Program

Our mission

To contribute to the nutrition and health of vulnerable populations, including children in low-income neighborhoods, and people with disabilities.  CACFP make the cost of nutritional meals care more affordable for working families.

The Program

  • Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)
  • The primary goal of the CACFP is to help children receive nutritious meals while introducing them to a variety of different types of foods. The exposure of good nutrition at an early age benefits child by promoting healthful eating habits to last throughout their lives.
  • The program is available to children, ages 0 through 12 years., who are in care in a licensed family daycare home or a Kith and Kin Family Daycare Home.

Program Benefits:

Children

  • Children from birth to twelve years of age receive nutritious meals and snacks
  • Children develop good, healthy eating habits

Parents

  • Parents are assured that their children are served nutritious meals and snacks
  • Receive FREE nutritional training

Providers

  • Enhance the quality of care provided
  • Receive resources for preparing meals
  • Receive monthly reimbursement

What is involved for a provider?

  • Serve meals as required by USDA
  • Keep daily attendance records
  • Keep daily meal records
  • Allow monitoring visits by CACFP staff
  • Submit monthly claims by the deadlines
  • Complete 1 hour of training each year (supplied by a CACFP Sponsor)

As a licensed Family Child Care Provider, you will receive individual attention in a supportive atmosphere.
We're a resource ready to help you with encouragement, training and support.
We are here for you, so you can do the most important job in our society, providing care for the next generation.

    

  Reimbursement

  • Each month providers participating in the CACFP submit their meals claims
  • Upon receipt. CACFP City of Hartford submit your claim to the state for reimbursement
