The City of Hartford wants to encourage all property owners to take the necessary precautions to protect their home, their family, their businesses and other assets during severe weather.

In the early 2000’s the City, with several stakeholders, developed a vision for a multi-use path to be located along the South Branch of the Park River, from Hamilton Street to Newfield Avenue. When it is finally complete, the trail will form an important link between the East Coast Greenway and the Trout Brook Trail in West Hartford. It will provide a pleasant location for walking and bicycling for residents of the area, and will provide options for avoiding busy roads for cyclists.
In 2009, the first segment of the trail, paralleling the South Branch and Brookfield Street, from Flatbush Avenue south toward Nilan Street, was opened. The City now has state funding through the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) to design and construct the next section of the trail from Nilan Street to Newfield Avenue. Public input meetings took place in 2021, and design is currently underway.
