EVICTION PICK UP POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

• Step1:    Please call to make an appointment before you come.
  • Contact Yadira Baez @ 860-757-9983, who may be reached between 8:00am and 1:00pm. You will be informed how much you owe to collect your property.
• Step 2:   Prove who you are and pay for storage.
  • At the date and time of appointment, go to

    Department of Public Works, 50 Jennings Rd, Hartford Ct 06120. After entering the door, go up the stairs to the second floor -an employee at the window will collect your payment.

  • Bring with you a valid government issued picture ID that matches the name on the Eviction Execution or the name of the lease.
  • If someone else whose name is not on the lease or Eviction Execution is picking up property for you, you must write a letter authorizing them to collect your items. The letter must be dated, signed and sealed by an active Notary Public.
• Step 3:   Fees and payments
  • $75.00 plus an additional $5.00 per day storage fee.
  • We do not take cash or personal checks.
  • Fees must be paid with a credit card/debit card, money order or bank/cashier’s check made payable to the City of Hartford.
• Step 4:   Property pick up.

• You must have a vehicle big enough to transport ALL property stored in one trip. All stored property MUST be retrieved THE SAME DAY PAYMENT IS MADE NO EXCEPTIONS!  
• Public Works will NOT help you load. Bring people if you need help.
• LOADING MUST BE COMPLETED BY 2:30

The Backwater Valve Program separates the inflow and infiltration from your homes footing and foundation drains and roof leader connections to the sanitary sewer system.  The sanitary sewer system is designed to handle sanitary waste only.  By removing outside water sources from the sewer system, the potential of surcharging is reduced considerably during wet weather events.  The removal of these connections is paramount to the reduction of surcharging and flooding events for the future.

Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) or Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) Event Notification

Public Act No. 21-42 entitled “An Act Concerning Revisions to the Sewage Right-ToKnow Statute” requires any sewage treatment plant operator, including The Metropolitan District (MDC), to notify the chief elected official and local public health official of the City of Hartford of any permitted sewage bypass event, Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO), or Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) occurring in the City of Hartford. Information concerning a recent event has been posted to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Sewage Right-to-Know website:

The statute also requires the MDC to notify the chief elected official and local public health official of any municipality that may be potentially impacted downstream by a CSO or SSO event. You are advised to check the DEEP’s website after a rainfall event to determine if any of the waterbodies in the area have been affected. The MDC has recently notified the City of Hartford of an CSO or SSO event which will impact or potentially impact waterbodies located within the City of Hartford. ALTERATION OF A U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS CIVIL WORKS PROJECT PURSUANT TO 33 USC 408: City of Hartford Flood Control System

Toe Drain Improvement, Hartford, CT

Interested parties are hereby notified that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District (USACE) is evaluating plans under 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408) to allow the City of Hartford, CT, to upgrade the existing toe drain system on the Flood Risk Management System (FRMS) along the Connecticut River in the city of Hartford. On the South Meadows Dike (Clark Dike), 6,000 linear feet (LF) of toe drain is proposed to be replaced and 5,650 LF is proposed to be cleaned and repaired. A landside chimney drain and buttress at the South Meadows (Clark Dike) section of the Hartford FRMS will also be installed to improve seepage and stability criteria for the levee. The soil buttress will increase the footprint of the South Meadows Dike on the landside but will remain within the Hartford Levee Right of Way. The drain would extend up to the height of the 0.2 percent annual chance flood (Top of Buttress Elevation 33.5 – NAVD88) to meet the USACE safety factor criteria.

This Notice is being issued pursuant to 33 U.S.C. 408, USACE Engineering Circular (EC) 1165-2-220, Executive Order 11988 – Floodplain Management, Council on Environmental Quality regulations (40 Code of Federal Regulations [CFR] 1500-1508) for implementing the procedural provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) (42 U.S.C. 4321 et. seq.), and the USACE Procedures for Implementing NEPA (33 CFR 230). Section 408 allows USACE to grant permission for the alteration, occupation, or use of a USACE civil works project if it is determined that the activity will not be injurious to the public interest and will not impair the usefulness of the federal project. A decision on a Section 408 request is a federal action, and therefore subject to NEPA and other environmental compliance requirements.

The proposed project will be conducted within the Hartford FRMS and its Right of Way. As a result, the impacts of the project on the existing landscape and habitats will be minimal. USACE has determined that the action falls within a categorial exclusion under 33 CFR 230.9 and, therefore, is categorically excluded from further NEPA review. The public is invited to provide comment.
