HARTFORD TO OPEN COOLING CENTERS DURING THIS WEEK’S HEAT WAVE

HARTFORD, CONN (July 26, 2023) – Today, the City of Hartford announced it will be opening cooling centers for residents for the rest of the week, beginning today at 8 AM and ending on Sunday, July 30th at 8 AM due to an expected heat wave.  The Hartford Fire Department is also handing out water to residents throughout the city.

The City is encouraging residents to drink plenty of water, stay out of the sun, and check in on loved ones and neighbors.  The City will also open the following cooling centers at library branches and other locations in Hartford.

Earlier this week, Governor Lamont activated Connecticut’s Extreme Hot Weather Protocol, which begins at 8 AM today and will last until 8 AM on Sunday, July 30th.
