How to Apply

Open positions from different City departments are posted frequently, this is how you can apply.


An official application must be completed in its entirety for each position for which you are applying.  To apply online please click "View Postings" below, or you may complete a Paper Application at the Office of Human Resources.

This includes:

  1. Filling out all blanks carefully and thoroughly ("see resume" is not accepted).
  2. All of your qualifications, education, and experience must be indicated on your application in order to be given proper consideration.
  3. The application should be submitted to the Department of Human Resources with any additional required documents attached.  

If you are a current City of Hartford employee, you can apply for advancement opportunities through the promotional process.
