Office of the Tax Assessor


Tax Assessor’s Office, located in City Hall - Suite 108, will be temporarily closed for renovations effective Thursday, April 25, 2024. The renovations are expected to be completed by Monday, June 10, 2024. During this renovation period, the Tax Assessor’s Office will continue to operate and assist constituents from the Tax Collector’s office located in City Hall, Suite 106.


The mission of the Assessment Division is to estimate the fair market value of all real property, personal property, and motor vehicles, to establish the fair and equitable levy of local property tax. The Assessor is the local government official responsible for establishing the fair market value of all real property, personal property and motor vehicles for local property tax purposes. Property is assessed in each town as of the October 1st assessment date, pursuant to Connecticut General Statute §12-62a. The City implemented a revaluation for the October 1, 2021 Grand List. The next revaluation is scheduled for October 1, 2026. The 2023 Grand List is $4,815,991,741.
