The City of Hartford, in partnership with Hartford HealthCare, is developing an Open Streets program. This program will produce vehicle-free routes on 4-6 miles of Hartford streets to connect neighborhoods, people, and businesses in the city. Open Streets create healthy, safe, and fun environments by transforming streets into places to gather, bike, roll, stroll, and play.
Open Streets provides a different perspective for viewing our city and imagining new possibilities for transportation, economic development, recreation, and city stewardship by temporarily creating vehicle-free routes. In its inaugural year, open streets will be held one Sunday a month from 9a-3p, June through September 2022.
