The City of Hartford announced it will be opening cooling centers for residents starting on Sunday, June 22nd at 12:00 PM, through Thursday, June 26th, 2025, in response to the forecasted heat wave. The Hartford Fire Department will also be distributing water to residents throughout the city.

Killed in the line of duty November 27, 1919 Hartford, Connecticut
Officer Knevet became a regular police officer on October 23, 1911. He became the first officer of the Hartford Police Department to be killed in the line of duty when he was struck by an automobile on November 27, 1919. In 1994 Officer Knevet was recognized by the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C., for having the longest record of continuous service with a single law enforcement agency of any officer killed in the line of duty in the United States.
