HARTFORD TO OPEN COOLING CENTERS DURING THIS WEEK’S HEAT WAVE

HARTFORD, CONN (September 5, 2023) – Today, the City of Hartford announced it will be opening cooling centers for residents beginning at noon Tuesday, September 5th, and ending at 8:00pm Thursday, September 7th, due to a forecasted heat wave. The Hartford Fire Department will also be handing out water to residents throughout the city.
“Although September has arrived, the summer's hot weather is still with us. Once again, we will be opening our cooling centers at library branches throughout the city to help our residents stay safe and cool,” said Mayor Luke Bronin. “We encourage all of our residents to drink plenty of water, stay out of the sun, and check in on loved ones and neighbors who may be affected by the heat.”

Governor Lamont has also activated the State of Connecticut’s Extreme Hot Weather Protocol, effective at 12:00pm Tuesday through 8:00pm Thursday.
