HARTFORD, CONN (April 16, 2020) – Today the City of Hartford announced that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Hartford stands at 532, exactly double the figure six days ago on Friday, April 10, 2020. The number of residents whose deaths have been associated with coronavirus more than doubled over the same period, from 14 deaths on April 10 to 32 deaths today. Mayor Bronin emphasized that social distancing remains critical as the number of confirmed cases accelerates in the Hartford region.
“We’ve expected that Connecticut would see rolling peaks, with the Hartford region following on the heels of Fairfield County and New Haven County, and that’s exactly what we’re seeing now,” said Mayor Luke Bronin. “As the number of confirmed coronavirus cases continues to rise significantly, each of us has a responsibility to slow the spread. As healthcare workers, first responders, sanitation workers, bus drivers, grocery store employees and many others continue to do their jobs, we have to do our part for our own sake, and for theirs – by staying home, by wearing masks, by staying serious about taking every precaution we can. Our hearts and our prayers are with every single family that has lost a loved one, and with everyone affected by this virus.”
