HARTFORD BONANZA INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION RETURNS FOR A 2ND YEAR

HARTFORD, CONN (July 1, 2022) – Hartford Bonanza, Hartford’s new Independence Day celebration is back this summer for a second year. The Bonanza will include a live music Jam on Trinity St. ahead of fireworks on July 3rd and will see the return of Hoop It Up, the 3v3 basketball tournament at Weaver High School’s Doc Hurley Field House on July 2nd. The Hartford Bonanza is hosted by First Night Hartford, the organizers of the region’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration.
“We’re keeping the ball rolling with summer fun in Hartford, and we are excited to welcome everyone to the second Summer in the City event, the Hartford Bonanza,” said Mayor Bronin. “On Saturday, enjoy some great local and pro-am basketball competition at Weaver, and on Sunday, head to Bushnell Park for music, food, and fireworks. It should be a beautiful weekend and I want to thank First Night Hartford, as well as the Greater Hartford Arts Council and the many sponsors, including Raytheon Technologies.”
This year, the Hartford Bonanza will kick off on Saturday, July 2nd with Hoop It Up. The 3v3 basketball tournament is being produced locally in partnership with HoopWave and Active City. Hoop It Up is a national organization owned and operated by Kevin Garnett’s Big Ticket Sports. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place on Allyn Street in downtown Hartford but has been moved to Weaver High School’s Doc Hurley Field House due to anticipated inclement weather.
Sunday, July 3rd will feature a celebration on Trinity Street under the Solider and Sailors Memorial Arch and will include vendors, food trucks, and a live performance stage. Musical performances include some of Connecticut's local talents, Nat Reeves, Nelson Bello & Dwayne Keith, along with dozens more. The stage will also feature guest performances and local DJ’s, including DJ Reefa, Kasey Cortez and Ch’Varda. The performances start at 4 PM with Kaliope dance performance and DJ Meechie from Hot 93.7. A full schedule can be found at the Hartford Bonanza website.
The Bonanza is supported by Summer in the City, a partnership program of City of Hartford and Greater Hartford Arts Council, presented by Raytheon Technologies.
