How to apply for a Food License

Step 1.Let's make sure you have what you need to begin. 

  • Have you gotten approval from Zoning?
  • Have you completed a Change of Ownership Form? (Only for existing Food Services)
  • Do you have a copy of the Lease/Title or Bills of Sale?
  • Have you paid the sales tax and obtained a use permit?
  • Have you obtained a pest control and waste removal (garbage) contracts?

Step 2.Is this a Class 3 or Class 4 Food Service? If so,

  • Do you have a copy of the Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) Certificate?
  • Do you have the Person in Charge and Training Documentation?

Step 3.Fill out the Food Service Plan Review Application

Yes, you will need Zoning's approval for proper land use prior to applying for a food license.

Should I pay rent before I get my food license?

It is recommended that you get proper zoning approvals before you start paying for rent.
