The Town of West Hartford, in partnership with the City of Hartford, has initiated the Kane and Kennedy Brook Watershed Area Storm Drainage Analysis to address chronic flooding issues and improve stormwater management in a large, interconnected drainage area. The Commission assists in the elimination of bigotry, discrimination and prejudice against lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender persons in the city. Commissioners study the conditions and needs of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender persons; hold forums or public hearings to gather or provide information; serve as an educational resource to fight bigotry, discrimination, and prejudice on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression; and serve as a clearinghouse for information and resources on issues concerning lesbians, gays, bisexuals and the transgender community.

Membership shall reflect the diversity of lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual persons in the community, e.g. different ages and disabilities, and economic, ethnic, racial and social groups. A majority of members must be Hartford residents
