Commission on Refugee and Immigrant Affairs (CRIA)

CRIA creates a means for refugee and immigrant voices to be heard and understood, facilitate civic engagement among refugees and immigrants, and recognize and legitimize issues of importance to new arrivals. Commissioners monitor & analyze impacts of existing or proposed policies or actions; propose policies and actions to Mayor and Council; make recommendations on services; and issue a report, at least every 2 years, on the state of refugees and immigrants in Hartford.

Membership Criteria

  • Majority must be residents
  • Majority must be US citizens
  • Membership must reflect the diversity of the refugee and immigrant population in Hartford, in terms of geography, language, immigration status, background, and ethnicity. 

 

 

Meeting Information & Materials

In 2017, the Hartford Court of Common Council voted unanimously to utilize a free platform known as www.meetinginfo.org for Boards & Commissions to easily post their meeting agendas and meeting minutes online.
