Advisory Commission on Food Policy

This Commission works to eliminate hunger, raise public awareness, and ensure availability of safe, nutritious food. Commissioners explore new means for City Government to improve the availability, accessibility, and quality of food; collect and monitor data on the nutrition status of Hartford residents; secure community input on food economy and the availability, accessibility, and quality of food to persons in need in the city; obtain information from City agencies on hunger and programs to reduce hunger and improve the ability of residents in need to obtain nutritious food; observe & analyze existing food distribution programs; and recommend new programs, improvements, or elimination of programs

Number of Members: 15

Membership Criteria

  • 5 members chosen from the public at large
  • 9 members actively engaged in programs for combating hunger and improving production, processing, and distribution of food to those in need.

 Members not required to be Hartford residents 

 

 

Meeting Information & Materials

In 2017, the Hartford Court of Common Council voted unanimously to utilize a free platform known as www.meetinginfo.org for Boards & Commissions to easily post their meeting agendas and meeting minutes online.
