HARTFORD TO OPEN COOLING CENTERS IN ADVANCE OF UPCOMING HEAT WAVE

Published on July 19, 2022

HARTFORD, CONN (July 19, 2022) – Today, the City of Hartford announced it will be opening cooling centers for residents this week, beginning today and ending on Sunday, July 24th, due to a forecasted heat wave.  The Hartford Fire Department is also handing out water to residents throughout the city.

“Starting today and continuing through the week, temperatures will be reaching highs in the mid-to-high 90s, so we will be opening our cooling centers throughout the city to help our residents stay safe and cool,” said Mayor Luke Bronin.  “We also want residents to remember to drink plenty of water before they go out and before they get thirsty. Please stay out of the sun during the hottest parts of the day, and please remember to check in on your loved ones and neighbors, especially young children and seniors, who may be particularly affected by the heat.”
