What is the Early Learning Parent Cabinet and how do I join?

The Early Learning Parent Cabinet is a diverse parent-led group that supports the Mayor's Cabinet for Young Children. This group meets regularly to help make improvements to the lives of children and families throughout Hartford on important matters including child care, home visiting, and early intervention. To join the group and see the list of upcoming meetings click here.

What is the City of Hartford Early Learning Division?

The Early Learning Division performs day-to-day planning and coordination, serving as the lead entity to coordinate and implement early childhood policy and the City’s coordinated early childhood plan. The City of Hartford is the first municipality in the State to implement a citywide Early Childhood Blueprint and the only city to establish a department, endorsed by City Council, to oversee early childhood initiatives. How is the Mayor’s Cabinet for Young Children and School Readiness Council helping my child?

This Cabinet was established by the Mayor. The Cabinet advises the Mayor in setting policy on all matters affecting young children and their families and acts as the local School Readiness Council. It includes both elected and appointed public sector leaders as well as non-governmental appointees representing important stakeholders including parents. How do I access information on Early Childhood Education?

These programs help prepare children for school. The Early Learning Network offers quality early childhood programs that are accessible and affordable. A variety of activities are designed to meet the needs of individual children, support parents and meet the needs of working families. Families pay based on a sliding fee scale.
