HARTFORD FEDERATION OF PARAEDUCATORS ANNOUNCE BOOK FAIR ON SATURDAY

Today, Mayor Bronin, CT AFL-CIO Executive Vice President Shellye Davis, and AFL-CIO President Ed Hawthorne joined volunteers and paraeducators to announce details for this Saturday’s Book Fair Giveaway. On Saturday, September 23rd from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Connecticut Convention Center, the Hartford Federation of Paraeducators will give away over 50,000 books to Hartford kids for free.

HARTFORD ANNOUNCES CITYWIDE SELF-CARE AND WELLNESS INITIATIVE

Today, Mayor Bronin announced a groundbreaking partnership with Headspace, the Copper Beech Institute, and the Greater Hartford Arts Council to make self-care and wellness resources available to all Hartford residents. Administered by the City’s Office of Safety & Wellness, this initiative is a first of its kind public-private partnership focused on mental wellness.

Last night, a Hartford Police Department cruiser was struck by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed through a red light and intersection. The two officers in the cruiser sustained serious injuries. Officer Bobby Garten, an eight year veteran of the Hartford Police Department, died of his injuries. Officer Kearney is hospitalized but in stable condition.

City of Hartford Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Process

The City of Hartford’s Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Process will establish the City’s operating and capital budgets for the fiscal year that begins on July 1, 2023 and ends on June 30, 2024.

Hartford HOME Investment Partnerships Program

A nineteen (19) day public comment period will begin on Monday, March 6, 2023 and end on Friday, March 24, 2023. The City of Hartford Department of Development Services (DDS) is looking for public comment on the Draft City of Hartford HOME Investment Partnerships Program - American Rescue Plan (“HOME – ARP”) Allocation Plan.

New Britain Avenue at White Street & Chandler Street Roundabout

The project entails the removal of the existing traffic signal and construction of a modern roundabout at the intersection of New Britain Avenue at White Street and Chandler Street. A concept plan showing the roundabout configuration is shown on the following page.

In accordance with Section 23-59 of the Connecticut General Statutes, notice is hereby given that the City of Hartford Tree Warden shall hold a public hearing on the intended removal of a 46" diameter Quercus alba, "White Oak," a 35" diameter Acer saccharum, "Sugar Maple," and a 39" diameter Quercus rubra, "Northern Red Oak," all located in Bushnell Park.

My Sister's Place (MSP) seeks to rehabilitate a building that they own in the North End of Hartford, at 102 Pliny Street. Currently vacant, the property had been used for transitional housing for the homeless until that program ended in 2018. MSP is now securing construction and permanent funding to provide 24 units of permanent supportive housing.
