*** Hartford Pistol Permit Unit will reopen to the public on Tuesday, August 11th, 2020 at 8:00 AM and remain open on each Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. ***

  • All appropriate COVID 19 social distancing criteria will be strictly followed and attendance is by appointment only.
  • Biometric Identification Services will be in the lobby every Tuesday from 10 AM to 2 PM for fingerprinting applicants.

Jason C. Thody

Jason Thody was confirmed Chief of the Hartford Police Department on February 24, 2020. He began his career with Hartford as a Police Cadet in 1996, and graduated from the Connecticut Police Academy in 1997. Since then, he has risen through the ranks from Patrol Officer to Captain, Assistant Chief in August of 2018. Chief Thody started out as a Middletown Police Explorer in 1989 at the age of 14.
