Officer Henry Jennings

 

Killed in the line of duty May 25, 1964

Hartford Police Officer Henry Jennings was appointed a patrolman on February 29, 1960. Jennings engaged a burglary suspect, who shot and injured another officer in an earlier altercation. He was able to wound the suspect, who was later apprehended and charged. Jennings was shot and killed during the gunfight. His life came to a tragic end when he was killed May 25, 1964. Jennings Road in Hartford was named in his honor, which was also the location of the prior police station.
