HARTFORD TO TEMPORARILY EXTEND WARMING CENTER HOURS

Published on January 10, 2022

HARTFORD, CONN. (January 10, 2022) – Following Governor Lamont’s activation of statewide cold weather protocols on Monday, the City of Hartford will keep its two overnight warming centers at 110 Washington Street (for individuals and young adults) and at 104 Vine Street (for families with children under 18) open 24-hours, effective no later than 6 PM Monday until 12 PM on Wednesday, January 12th.

This expansion of hours at Hartford’s overnight warming centers comes ahead of forecasts calling for temperatures as low as 9 degrees Fahrenheit on Tuesday night.

“With temperatures both daytime and nighttime getting extremely cold, we are going to keep both of our warming centers open around the clock through noon Wednesday, so Hartford residents have a place where they can stay warm at all times,” said Mayor Bronin.  “Thank you to Journey Home CT and to the Salvation Army for keeping this critical program up and running. These warming centers can be lifesaving for residents experiencing homelessness, so please visit if you need warmth, especially these next couple of days.”

Please note that one of Hartford’s warming centers serves only individual adults, while the other serves families with children under age 18. Residents and families in need of warmth should be sure to visit the location appropriate to their circumstances:
