HARTFORD ANNOUNCES SECOND DISTRIBUTION OF AT-HOME COVID-19 TEST KITS

Published on January 11, 2022

HARTFORD, CONN. (January 11, 2022) – Today, the City of Hartford announced that it will distribute an additional 6,000 COVID-19 at-home test kits, along with N95 masks, to Hartford residents this Thursday, January 13th.

Approximately 6,000 testing kits will be available Thursday at six different locations, which include the Downtown Hartford Public Library, the Camp Field Library Branch, and the Albany Avenue Library, as well as the Mark Twain House, the Northwest Boys and Girls Club, and Maria De La Paz Church/St. Lawrence O’Toole.

The City received 9,000 at-home test kits from the State on January 2nd.  This third round of test-kit distributions follows the distribution of approximately 8,000 test kits to Hartford residents on Thursday, December 30th, and the prioritized distribution of approximately 10,000 additional test kits and 120,708 N95 masks last week, including to the Hartford Public Schools, Early Learning Centers, and the Hartford Family Child Care network, and staff and residents of Hartford Housing Authority, as well as City employees, senior enters, and staff and residents at elderly assisted living facilities.

"Our team has been working hard to make both at-home test kits and good quality masks available to our residents and to those who need them most, and we're grateful for the State's partnership," said Mayor Luke Bronin. "I'm grateful to our team and to tremendous partners like the Hartford Public Library for helping us make these tests and masks as accessible as possible at locations across our city. If you weren’t able to get yourself and your family at-home tests, you can head to one of our six locations this Thursday."

"Our health, fire, and police departments did an admirable job getting COVID tests in our residents' hands to help fight the spread of COVID-19," said Council President Maly Rosado. "Now, I'm proud that we have six more locations that will provide even more accessible tests for people who need it most."

“One of our priorities is to keep our children safe at home, at school and elsewhere,” said Councilman Nick Lebron, Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee. “These at home kits provide fast, reliable results during a time where it is difficult to find testing and Covid numbers are rising.”

Hartford residents will be eligible to receive one (1) test kit and two (2) N95 masks per adult upon showing proof of residence (state or municipal ID, piece of mail less than 60 days old with any other ID with name and picture). Each kit contains two tests.  Locations and timing of Thursday's testing kit distribution sites are listed below:
