6 PM TONIGHT: MAYOR BRONIN ACTIVATES SNOW PARKING BAN

Published on February 27, 2023

HARTFORD, CONN. (February 27, 2023) – Due to the impending snowstorm, Mayor Luke Bronin will activate a snow parking ban for the City of Hartford, beginning at 8 PM tonight.  The ban will end at 12 PM tomorrow, Tuesday, February 28th.

“We are expecting our first significant snowfall of the season this evening, so in order to help our DPW team keep the streets clear and safe, we are asking that you move your vehicles to our Blue Light Lots, City lots, or School parking lots,” said Mayor Bronin. “The snow parking ban will begin at 8 PM tonight, so please park at one of these lots as soon as you can.”

Mayor Bronin also encouraged residents to sign up to receive alerts from the City of Hartford’s emergency alert program at this link: “One of the best ways to stay in touch and receive rapid information on parking bans, closures, or other emergencies is through our emergency text alert system, so please take a few moments to sign up.”

During a snow parking ban, all on-street parking is prohibited throughout the City of Hartford. Any vehicles not removed from City streets by the start of the parking ban may be ticketed and towed.  Residents without access to off-street parking may move their vehicles to one of the authorized parking areas including Blue Light Lots, City Parks, and City Recreation and Senior Centers. Residents can also move their cars to Hartford Public Schools parking lots. See below for more information on these lots.

To notify the public a parking ban is in effect, sixteen major intersections will be illuminated with blue light beginning 8 hours before the parking ban and they will remain illuminated throughout the duration of the parking ban.

Seven Blue Light Lots are dedicated solely for use during snow parking bans.  These designated Blue Light Lots will provide more parking options for residents who do not have access to off-street parking.  Blue Light and City lots will open at 12 PMwhile Hartford Public Schools lots will open later, at 4 PM.

Vehicles must be removed from City and Blue Light Lots by 8 PM tomorrow.  Vehicles must be removed from Hartford Public Schools lots by 3 PM tomorrow.
