HARTFORD, CONN (May 28, 2021) – The City of Hartford and the State Department of Public Health are partnering with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Trinity Health Of New England and Griffin Health to offer free vaccine clinics over Memorial Day weekend.  There are clinics throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday in different parts of the City, including free food and music at the FEMA clinics.  Next week FEMA will continue its clinics Tuesday – Thursday, and the City’s Health Department will continue to offer its walk-in clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 PM – 6 PM.

“We have vaccine clinics throughout the day this weekend and we want as many members of our community to get protected as we head into the summer,” said Mayor Luke Bronin.  “Give your friends and family peace of mind and prevent them from getting this deadly virus by getting vaccinated.  I’m grateful to the State Department of Public Health and our great partners who will be working hard this weekend to vaccinate our community.”

"With the unofficial start of summer happening this weekend, what better time to go get vaccinated so that you can enjoy your summer safely gathering with friends and family, going to fun summer attractions, and doing all the summer activities that we missed out on last year,” said Dr. Deidre Gifford, Acting Commissioner of the State Department of Public Health.  “Getting vaccinated is a highly safe and effective tool in our fight against this virus and our efforts to get back to normal.  I strongly urge all city residents who have yet to get vaccinated to take advantage of one of the many free, walk-up clinics happening throughout the city this weekend and into next week.”

“We are proud to partner with the City of Hartford and State of Connecticut to bring the FEMA mobile vaccination unit back to our region,” said Dr. Phil Roland, Chief Medical Officer, Saint Francis Hospital.  “As part of our Trinity Health Of New England Mission and Core Values, we pride ourselves on our ability to provide equitable care to all community members, and have a responsibility to bring the COVID-19 vaccine into local neighborhoods to ensure easy, efficient access.  This effort continues our initiative to bring the vaccine closer to home for some of our most vulnerable populations.”
