MAYOR BRONIN, CITY LEADERS ENCOURAGE HARTFORD RESIDENTS TO ORDER AT-HOME TESTING KITS FROM COVIDTESTS.GOV

HARTFORD, CONN (January 19, 2022) – Today, Mayor Luke Bronin, joined by Hartford’s Department of Health and Human Services and Fire Chief Rodney Barco, encouraged Hartford residents to order their free at-home testing kits online from www.covidtests.gov. The push comes after the Biden administration announced that every household in America is eligible to receive four free COVID-19 tests in the mail by registering at www.covidtests.gov.

Because these tests take between 7 and 12 days to come in the mail, city officials are urging Hartford residents to sign up immediately. Mayor Bronin also underscored that these tests are best used when feeling symptoms or after an exposure to someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19. He also emphasized that the City of Hartford has already distributed thousands of test kits and will continue to distribute kits as they become available.

“I am thankful for the Biden administration for creating this website, which means as many as 180,000 test kits will be coming to households across Hartford," said Mayor Bronin. “With this website, families can easily get COVID-19 tests shipped right to their door free of charge. Registration takes just a couple of minutes, so please sign up now for your COVID tests. Most importantly, to truly be best protected from COVID-19, make sure to get vaccinated and get your booster shots.”

Some residents of multi-family buildings across the country have reported receiving error messages during the ordering process. For anyone who experiences this issue, the USPS recommends filing a service request at https://emailus.usps.com/s/the-postal-store-inquiry or contacting the USPS help desk at 1-800-ASK-USPS.
