The mission of the Assessment Division is to estimate the fair market value of all real property, personal property, and motor vehicles, to establish the fair and equitable levy of local property tax. The Assessor is the local government official responsible for establishing the fair market value of all real property, personal property and motor vehicles for local property tax purposes. Property is assessed in each town as of the October 1st assessment date, pursuant to Connecticut General Statute §12-62a. The City implemented a revaluation for the October 1, 2021 Grand List. The next revaluation is scheduled for October 1, 2026. The 2021 Grand List is $4,797,182,053.
